Add Text to a Video Online
Hi there! This is a simple tool to add text on top of any video. First, load your video by dragging and dropping it onto this page, or pasting a video file, or pasting a video URL, or clicking the grey dotted area to browse your device's files for your video. Next, edit the text by clicking it once to reposition/resize, and again to edit the actual text. Finally, click the download button to download your video! You can also change the text color and select a font using the menu that appears (under the video) when you click the text. This tool is completely free and no watermarks are added to your video!
Note that the video isn't uploaded to any servers - everything is done in your web browser using JavaScript, so it's completely secure. Your video file never leaves your computer.
I made this because I noticed that all existing websites either require that you download some terrible software, or they add their own watermark to your video and make you pay to remove it. Absurd! It's the 21st century, and it's about time people had a simple tool to add text to a video. Maybe a business can afford to pay for this sort of thing, but the average person doesn't want to pay money just to add a text label to their video meme or whatever.
This tool should work just as well on your mobile device as it does in your browser - no need to download an app for such a simple task. Though there are a bunch of great free video editing apps out there if you need more functionality than this simple tool provides.
You can also use this tool to add watermarks to videos that you own. For example, you could put your social media handle/username over a video so that if it goes viral, it's linked back to you, the creator. You can control the opacity of the text using the little menu that pops up beneath the video when you click some text. You can also add images and control their opacity! This would be handy if, for example, you wanted to add a logo watermark to your video.
If you want to create an Instagram/Facebook type video meme that has text at the top of the video (and/or underneath), then you can use the "top padding" and "bottom padding" buttons in the menu below your video. This adds some whote space above/below the video where you can add your text. If you'd like that space to be a color other than white, you can click "add shape", and then add a rectangle (and select a color with the menu below the video) and stretch it so it covers the white padding area.
